Bernice R. Williams, 73, was born on May 10, 1944 in Barnwell to Lucious Williams Sr. and Queen Esther Stokes Williams. She died December 20, 2016 in Yonkers, N.Y.
Funeral services were held on January 3, 2017 at noon at Hope Memorial Park in Barnwell. Interment followed at Hope Memorial Park in Barnwell. Informal visitation was held on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home Chapel.
Bernice was a graduate of the Barnwell County School Systems. Shortly after graduation, she moved to New York, where she spent the remainder of her years making many life-long friends. Bernice or Bern, as she was known to her family, will be remembered by all who knew her as a beautiful and caring person. She worked as a nurse at Francis Shcevier Nursing Center in Bronx, New York for over 30 years, retiring in 2007.
Survivors: Two daughters – Sharon Williams of Fayetteville, N.Y. and Dawn Williams of Yonkers, N.Y.; Three grandsons, Zachary Williams of Bellevue, Washington, Logan Williams Sr. of Barnwell and Kajuan Williams of Yonkers, N.Y.; One great-grandson, Logan Williams Jr.; Two brothers – Charles (Joann) Williams and Lucious Williams, both of Barnwell; Two sisters – Bessie Williams of Harlem, N.Y. and Joan (Ivan) Cohen of Barnwell; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Guinyard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
