Mr. Hilton Hayes Hoover Jr. of Barnwell passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at his residence. He was 71.
Mr. Hoover was born January 7, 1946 in Fort Worth, TX, a son of the late Rev. Hilton H. Hoover Sr. and Evelyn Turner Hoover. He retired from the Savannah River Plant where he worked for the E. I. Dupont Construction Co. as a boiler maker and also in the company's operations division. He owned several businesses in Barnwell including the Creative Solutions Sign Co. and the Computer Service Bureau. Hilton held computer instructional classes around the state when they were first developed, and he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his brother, Jonathan D. Hoover and his wife Linda Murray Hoover of Walterboro; by his stepson, Greg Rushing; and by his stepdaughter, April R. Cone. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Harley. He was preceded in death by his son, Hilton "Hillie" Hoover III.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb.19, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro. The family received friends immediately following the service. Burial services will be held privately, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.
