On May 16, 1952, a 6 lb. 4oz. baby girl, Henri Mae Robinson, was born to Mrs. Maggie Lee Allen Robinson and the late Mr. John Henry Robinson in Allendale. She was the youngest of six siblings and was spoiled by each of them.

Henri Mae Robinson received her early Christian upbringings at the Ervington Baptist Church. She graduated from C. V. Bing High School in 1970 where she was Ms. C. V. Bing.

Henri Mae began her employment of 5 years with Westpoint Industries of Ulmer. Following that she decided to further her education receiving her Associate of Science degree from the University of South Carolina – Salkehatchie and completed studies toward a bachelor’s degree. She was later employed by the Town of Allendale for 16 years where she served as tax collector, water clerk, payroll clerk, and administrative assistant.

She was elected as Allendale County Auditor after a run-off election and had no other opposition since. Her campaign slogan was, “Organize, Organize, Organize”. Thanks to Wilbur Cave, Edna Capers, and Elouise Brantley, their hard work and dedication paid off. On July 1, 1995, she began her duties as Auditor and served faithfully until her demise. She was also part owner and devoted team member of the Heritage Funeral Home of Allendale, Inc.

She was united in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart, Mr. James Henry Grant, on August 29, 1969. To this beloved union came three daughters: Gail, Tracy, and Jennifer.

Henri Mae fulfilled her civic duties in various capacities including: Vice President of Allendale County Alive Board of Directors, Vice President of Salkehatchie Neighborhood Association, Les Dames Club, as well as countless others. She also organized the Ms. Allendale County Black Pageant.

Henri Mae loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had so many people in her life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, sister-in-law, godmother, neighbor and friend.

On Monday evening, April 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, Mrs. Henri Mae Grant made her eternal transition in Glory with her Lord following an extended illness.
