Trustee Annie Bell Sanders, aka “Nora”, age 75, was born on January 7, 1942, in Allendale to the late Leroy Patterson and the late Martha Boynton.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance at an early age, she joined the Rosemary Baptist Church in Barnwell, where she served faithfully as a Trustee for 25 years. On October 4, 2016, she became an honorary Trustee. She received her education at the Butler School in Barnwell.
“Nora” as she was affectionately known, will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was married to Willie Dean Sanders for 54 years, and in this union, they were blessed with seven children.
Besides her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Cassandra Sanders; two sons, Willie D. Sanders Jr. and Rodney D. Sanders; adopted parents, Albert (Vivian “IV”) James; three sisters-in-law, Martha Whetstone, Eva Mae Walker, and Josephine Hope; and one brother-in-law, Herman Sanders.
Our Heavenly Father called her from labor to reward on July 23, 2017, at the Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, GA, formerly known as MCG.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: a loving and devoted husband of the home, Willie Dean Sanders of Barnwell; four daughters, Wanda (Harold F.) Mitchell, Tonya (Donnie D.) McKenzie,
Marcy Lynette Sanders, and Annafaye Jevett Sanders, all of Barnwell; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Bradley and John H. Bradley Jr. of Barnwell; one sister,
Louise B. Glee of Barnwell; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Ann Haskell and family of Texas, and Wilhemeania “Mammie” Odom and family of Savannah, Georgia; three special families, the Whetstone, James, and Clark families; two special friends, Dorothy (Hollis) Fenn and Elouise Gleaton of Barnwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Rosemary Baptist Church in Barnwell. Pastor Sara C. Perkins brought words of comfort. Interment followed at Rosemary Baptist Church Cemetery.
