Funeral services for Luebirta Tolbert, 77, of 148 Warner Road, Allendale, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at Miller Swamp Baptist Church with Reverend Angelon Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Luebirta Davis Tolbert was born on September 5, 1939 in Allendale County to the late Deacon John Davis and the late Ruth Bowers Davis.
‘Coot’, as she was affectionately known as, attended the Allendale County public schools. At an early age, she joined the Miller Swamp Baptist Church; where she served on the gospel choir for many years. Coot began to sew at an early age and continued with it until she was no longer able to. She was employed at the Allendale International Apparel until her retirement. After retirement she served as a foster grandmother. Her most favorite hobby was baking.
Luebirta was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers: William Davis and Frank Lewis Davis.
She passed away quietly in the comfort of her home on September 7, 2016.
Luebirta leaves to cherish her fond memories: her husband, Franklyn Tolbert of Fairfax; two daughters: Johnnie Mae Johnson of Allendale and Jacqueline Tolbert of the home; two grandchildren: Brian Johnson Sr. of Lacrosse, WI and Tahja Chisolm of the home; three great-grandchildren: Sadrien Johnson, Brian Johnson Jr. and Chanston Hammond of the home; two sisters: Norine Mitchell of Miami, Fla. and Gloria (Waldren) Cephas of Moncks Corner; one brother, John Henry Smalls of Charleston; three step-grandsons: Carlos Badger, Quyman Badger and Demetrius Gilmore; two step-daughters: Mary E. Badger of Allendale and Tangela (Bernard) Nicholson of Miami, Fla.; two step-granddaughters: Sabria Badger and Chankevia Johnson; a special niece, Rena Mae Gregory; two special friends: John Gadson and Cecile Burton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Allendale Community Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
