Shirley Ann Wright Rice (Fairfax)

Mrs. Shirley Ann Wright Rice, age 53, was born on March 21, 1964, in Crescent City, Fla. to the late Oregon and Aretha M. Wright.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance, she joined the Trinity Church of God in Allendale, where she served faithfully as Mother of the Church, and on the Kitchen Ministry until her health began to fail.

She graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High School in Allendale, and worked at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton for 12 years, and Cracker Barrel for 16 years as a Chef and Cook.

Shirley will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was married to her loving husband, Wallace Rice, for 20 years.

Besides her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Wright.

Our Heavenly Father called her from labor to reward on September 15, 2017, at the Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: a loving and devoted husband, Wallace Rice of Fairfax; two daughters, Natalie (Derrick) Mixson of Barnwell and Jennifer Wright of Allendale; two sons, Alfonza Wright of Hilton Head and Terry Wright of Barnwell; three stepchildren, Dorothy Rice of Fairfax, Varnella Rice and Shawn Rice of Allendale; eighteen grandchildren; special granddaughter reared in the home, Shaquetta Wright of Fairfax; one godson reared in the home, Steven Walker of Columbia; one brother, Donald (Linda) Wright of Crescent City, Fla.; one adopted sister, Barbara Simmons of Allendale; one sister-in-law, Willie Mae (Willie) Williams of Allendale; one brother-in-law, John (Lucile) Rice of Fairfax; four aunts, Maudell Hicks and Anne Ruth Wright of Allendale, Mary Alice Simmons of Palm Coast, Fla. and Tressie Lee Brantley of Crescent City, Fla.; two uncles, Bobby Wright of Allendale and Arthur “Chuck” Foreman of Crescent City, Fla.; special niece, Latasha Badger of Barnwell; niece reared in the home, Tiffany Wright of Brunswick, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Church of God in Allendale with words of comfort provided by Pastor Curtis Jackson. Burial followed at Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery in Allendale.

B.F. Cave Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
