James W. Blackwell Sr., 80, of Barnwell, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Hitchcock Center in Aiken.
J.W. was born on February 28, 1937 in Stilson, Georgia. He was a son of the late James Rufus and Mariee Blackwell Sheffield. He retired from the U.S. Navy and had served in Vietnam. He was a retired systems analyst with Northrop-Drummond Corp.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
Survivors include his son, James W. (Beth) Blackwell Jr.; sisters, Virginia (Billy) Clifton Denmark and Mollie (Vernon) Cheek of Barnwell; brothers, James R. (Doris) Sheffield Jr. of Hampton, Harry A.(Bobbie Jean) Sheffield of Cummings and Don E. (Nancy ) Polk of Bluffton; sister-in-law, Linda Sheffield; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Adrene Creech Blackwell; his son, Artie Blackwell; and brother, Perry C. Sheffield.
