David Roberts - Allendale County

David Roberts was born in Allendale County on April 17, 1954 to Susie Roberts Williams and the late Thomas Williams. He was the first of four children.

David was educated in the public schools of Allendale County.

At an early age, he joined the Beulah Baptist Church in Beldoc. In 1971, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served for three years.

He had a number of jobs in his lifetime, but was well known for his carpentry work.

David was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who loved his family and friends. He greeted everyone with a smile and a hello, how are you doing. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

David was married to Martha Roberts. To this union, three children were born, Sonjya, Yulanda and David Jr. For the past 20 years, he had a close companion, Ms. Jannie Lee Roberts of Estill, and six step children: Olymeia, Renata, Kevin, Tosha and Januay’.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Susie Roberts Williams; children, William Dunbar of Allendale, Sonjya Roberts and Yulanda Roberts of Barnwell, David (Sherika) Roberts Jr. of Barnwell, Quincy Harris of Allendale, Derriqk (Stephanie) Roberts of Lawrenceville, Ga., Ronnie (Krystina) Nelson, Jessica Roberts of Philadelphia, Pa., Pam Roberts of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Barbara Priester of North Augusta and Debbie (Roy) Walker of Beldoc; one brother, Willie Priester of Lancaster, Calif. He also leaves behind seven nieces, five nephews, three grand nephews, two grand nieces, a very special caring and devoted friend, Mr. Duncan (aka “Catfish”) and a host of other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration was held on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church in Beldoc with Rev. Pamela Richards as the eulogist. Interment followed at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with repast held at the home of Roberts’ mother, Mrs. Susie Williams.

Lebby Funeral Home of Barnwell assisted the family with arrangements.
