A Celebration of Life Service for Bennie Marshall “Butch” Spell, 76, of Denmark, will be held at noon on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Blackville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken Frederick and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday. The family would like to thank the Grove Park Hospice of Orangeburg for their special care during this time.

Butch passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.
Born in Bamberg County, he was the son of the late Bennie R. Spell and Virginia Poole Spell. He was a member of Blackville First Baptist Church and a former member of the Denmark Jaycees. Butch previously worked as the manager and general manager of Owensby Cadillac Buick of Aiken and various other locations selling cars. He was an avid farmer, fisherman and gardener. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served aboard the U. S. S. AJAX.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Mears Spell of the home; sons, Steve (Carol) Spell of Hilda, Shane (Joanie) Spell of Denmark, Stacy (Beverly) Spell of Rock Hill, Robert “Rob” Whittle of Denmark; a daughter, Patsy Whittle of Healing Springs; grandchildren, Brandon (Rhonda) Spell, Ashley, Cody, Kyle, Logan, Luke Spell, Samantha and Sydney Whittle; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Frances (Doyle) Jones of Florence and a number of nieces and nephews.
