Kathleen had two brothers, her oldest brother, James Bryson Peeples Jr., and her youngest brother, Thomas Claude Peeples. “Kathy” was raised in Barnwell where she attended public school. She grew up and was very active in her church, “The First Baptist Church, Barnwell.” She taught Sunday school, piano and music, and Vacation Bible School. Kathy was very involved in her music, playing at various public events and programs, and competing every summer in state competitions. The family purchased a vacation home on Bennett’s Point in Jan. 1961 near Walterboro. We would swim, fish, crab, and play with my brothers in the water and head off in the boat to Edisto Island for a day at the beach. In 1968, our family purchased Tradewinds Resort at Edisto Island as a vacation home directly at the beach. We continued to spend tremendous times together at the beach as we grew up. My time each summer was also spent with three girl cousins my age. We would spend our time between our four homes and lake homes, with wonderful experiences shared at each other’s homes, visiting the various uncles, aunts and cousins.

Kathy graduated from Barnwell High School in May 1975. She entered the University of South Carolina in August 1975. She majored in Music Piano for two years as a piano major. Her father died August 2, 1978. After her dad’s death, Kathy returned home to help her mother run the family jewelry store and to help raise her younger brother Tommy. She returned to school a year later, and changed her major to Accounting and graduated from The University of South Carolina in Dec. 31, 1981, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration - Accounting.

Kathy was very dedicated to her funeral service families and wanted to support them in their loss of their loved ones. Kathy gave many dedicated hours of service to our apartment rental families to provide nice homes for our cliental. Kathy later married Roger W. Landblom on Dec. 31, 1993, in Maui, Hawaii. Kathy continued to work at the funeral home and properties business in Fargo, ND until 2005.

In 2005, Kathy made a career change, and began to work with The Village Family Service Center in Nov. 2005 as a temp, and later employed full time in May 2006. Kathy continued to work with The Village Family Service Center in their business office as an accountant. She was responsible for accounts receivables and deposits and other various accounting projects and responsibilities. Kathy’s dedication to helping her families was a continued aspect of what she did to help with their insurance claims, payments, deposits and billings. Kathy’s commitment to helping her families be successful was always a benefit for the Village as well as a success for the families they served.

Kathy enjoyed her vacation time with her family at Leech Lake, MN, at their year round home, sailing in the summer, and in the winter, snowmobiling with their Arctic Cat Snowmobiles with their family and friends in The Paul Bunyan National Forrest. The family also went cross country skiing in the Chippewa National Forrest. Kathy and her family were all certified scuba divers. On winter vacations with her family, Kathy and her family scuba dove in many of the Tropical Oceans, the Virgin Islands, the Grand Caymans, Bahamas and Hawaii, learning to discover and enjoy as a family together, the amazing world under the ocean together.
