Funeral services for Linwood William Mitchell, 84, of Erwin, TN, formerly of Denmark, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Willow Swamp Baptist Church with the Reverends Benjamin Harr and Farrell Ray officiating, Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hammond Jr., Christopher Hammond, Danny Mishoe Jr., Brad Mishoe, Brandon Sanders, Stevie Mitchell Jr., and Wesley Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Hammonds Sr. and Joe Grubbs.
Mr. Mitchell passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016.
Born in Graniteville, he was a son of the late Julius Marion Mitchell and Lizze Darnell Mitchell and was married to the late Mary Vaughn Mitchell. He attended First Baptist Church in Erwin, TN and previously worked maintenance at the nursing home in Orangeburg. Mr. Mitchell served in the U. S. Navy.
Survivors include his daughters, Terry Sanders and Tammy Dailey, both of Barnwell; sons, Stevie Mitchell of Blackville, Allen Linwood Mitchell Sr. of Erwin, TN; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; including grandson, A. J. (Brenda) Mitchell and their children Samuel, Gabby and Olivia Mitchell who visited with him daily. In addition to his wife, Mary Mitchell, he was preceded in death by daughters, Mary Sue Thompson, Lynn Mitchell, Judy Mitchell; great-granddaughters, Emily Payton Mitchell, Angel Courtney Ferguson; sisters, Dorothy Patrick, Loreen Stringfield, Mildred Breeland; brothers, Jimmy, Billy, Bobby and Marion Mitchell.
