Patrick J. Mayes - Barnwell

Funeral services for Mr. Patrick J. Mayes of Barnwell will be held on Wednesday December 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Frost Branch Baptist Church of Elko with the Rev. Joseph Williams, Pastor, and Rev. Harold Sheapard, eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church of Blackville.

Mr. Patrick John Mayes, aka “Pat”, age 55, was born on April 12, 1961, to Dorothy Louise Mayes and the late Hildon George Mayes in Barnwell County.

At an early age he sought God’s direction and guidance and joined Frost Branch Baptist Church in Elko.

Patrick attended Williston-Elko Public Schools in Williston. He was employed with Augusta Fiberglass, LLC, in Blackville for 33 years.

“Pat”, as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Hildon George Mayes, one sister, Shirley Isaac, and two brothers, John Henry Mayes and George Mayes Jr.

On Monday, December 5, 2016, our Heavenly Father called him home from labor to reward following an extended illness at his residence in Barnwell.

Patrick leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted mother, Dorothy Louise Mayes of Blackville; his fiancé, Darlene Chrystal Jackson of the home Barnwell; four sons, Darrauise Mayes of Denmark, Lamont Drake of Jacksonville, Florida, Garry Williams of New York, NY, James Drake of Columbia, and Melvin Drake of Allendale; two daughters, Shenika Brown and Shawndae Drake, both of Barnwell; four sisters, Jessie (Freddie) Glover and Linda Mayes, both of Blackville, Marie Mayes of Denmark, and Ashley Faust of Columbia; three brothers, Leroy (Cassandra) Mayes and Willie Mayes, both of Blackville, and Andre (Elizabeth) Mayes of Burlington, NC; one uncle, Harold (Helen) Mayes of Blackville; one aunt, Maydell Glover of West Columbia; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sympathizing friends.

The Heritage Funeral Home of Allendale, Inc., 352 Mill Street N., Allendale, is in charge of arrangements.
