Mildred Sanders Williams - Blackville

On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, Mildred Sanders Williams, 75, of Blackville, went home to be with Jesus. Ms. Williams was born to the late Ruth Elizabeth Sanders and James Sanders on October 4, 1941, in Barnwell County.

Mildred joined Macedonia Baptist Church at a very young age and served faithfully until her passing. During earlier years, she served as Secretary to the Sunday School and Pianist for both the Sunday School and the Church. Subsequent to her retirement, she served as a member of the Trustee Board, Scholarship Committee and Financial Secretary of the Church.

Mildred received her education in the Blackville School District. While in school, she actively participated in the School Choir, the Yearbook Staff and was a basketball player with the Macedonia High School Hawks. She later graduated from Voorhees College.

Mildred was employed by the Milliken Corporation and retired after 30 years of dedicated service and was also employed by Blackville Public Schools and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. She was also employed by the Disability Board.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Selwyn Byron Goodwin Sr.

She is survived by a daughter, Andrea (Herbert) Davis, Barnwell; sons, Darryl Sanders Sr., Carceret, NJ, Van (Pamela) Williams, North Augusta, Jason (Natasha) Williams, Barnwell; a special niece, Dawn Wilson Martin, Irmo; a sister, Dr. Marie Martin, Irmo; eleven grandchildren, Quintin Sanders, Jeffrey McKethan, Marcus McKethan, Darryl Sanders Jr., April Sanders, Selwyn Goodwin Jr., Taylor Goodwin, Byron Williams, Brianna Williams, Camron Williams, and Carson Williams; five great-grandchildren, Arielle Sanders, Quintana Sanders, Ryleigh McKethan, Amora McKethan and Selwyn Goodwin III; and other relatives and many friends.

Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville. Mrs. Williams will be placed in the sanctuary of the church one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery in Barnwell.
