Mary Mauldin Griner, 85, of Barnwell, the wife of the late Benjamin Charlton Griner Sr., passed away on March 24, 2017 in the Palmetto Health Heart Hospital, Columbia.
Mary was born in Stuart, Fla. on November 22, 1931. She was a daughter of the late Wilder Hamilton Mauldin and Mary Dehon Mauldin. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a member of the Cherokee Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, active member of the Church of the Holy Apostles where she had been a member of the choir and was a partner with her late husband in Barnwell Heating and Cooling Company, Inc. She was an avid bridge player.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Church of the Holy Apostles with Rev. Robert Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Holy Apostles, P.O. Box 207, Barnwell, SC 29812.
Survivors include a son, Benjamin Charlton “Benji” Griner Jr. (Shelia) of Charleston; daughters, Julie Griner Powers (Robert) of Timmonsville, Sally (Joseph, deceased) Griner Raymond of Irmo, and Angie Griner Dowdy (Sam) of Barnwell; sisters, Harriet Mauldin Morris (Ken) and Helen Mauldin of Columbia; grandchildren, Heath (Shanti) Powers, Lance (Erin) Powers, Tobin (Jason) Moss, Ben (Maggie) Griner, Julian Raymond, Chad (Lauren) Dowdy and Megan (Kurt) Mueller; great-grandchildren, Mary Elaine Powers, Russell Powers, Maggie Powers, Kyla Powers, Kaden Raymond, Drake Mueller, Gage Mueller, Charlie Dowdy and Kate Dowdy. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Mauldin Carson.
