A graveside funeral service for Howard Leon “Blue” Boyer, 70, of Williston, will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Williston Cemetery with U.S. Coast Guard and Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Memorial contributions may be given to the Williston Cemetery, P.O. Leon passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017.
Born on Johns Island, he was a son of the late Arthur Junior “A.J.” Boyer and Mary Jane Chavis Boyer. He was a member of Winfield Heights Baptist Church, retired as a facility technician from Bell South and was Past Master 32nd Degree of the Hope Masonic Lodge #126 Williston. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a second class radioman, was a member of the CWA local #3207 and #3719 and was a former member of the Williston Jaycees. Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, being outdoors and loved the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Trotter Boyer; son, Christopher “Chris” Boyer and his wife Brenda of Aiken; siblings Arthur Laverne (Lynn) Boyer of Williston, Mary Alice (David) Barnett of Williston and Fred Allen (Sharon) Boyer of Burnsville, N.C.; mother-in-law, Betty W. Trotter; grandchildren, Daniel Owen, Summer Schroder and her husband Myles; great-granddaughter, Tenley Schroder; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his four-legged son Sam.
