Leon Boyer - Williston

A graveside funeral service for Howard Leon “Blue” Boyer, 70, of Williston, will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Williston Cemetery with U.S. Coast Guard and Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Memorial contributions may be given to the Williston Cemetery, P.O. Box 367, Williston, S.C. 29853 or Winfield Heights Baptist Church, 315 Chester St., Williston, S.C. 29853.

Leon passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017.

Born on Johns Island, he was a son of the late Arthur Junior “A.J.” Boyer and Mary Jane Chavis Boyer. He was a member of Winfield Heights Baptist Church, retired as a facility technician from Bell South and was Past Master 32nd Degree of the Hope Masonic Lodge #126 Williston. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a second class radioman, was a member of the CWA local #3207 and #3719 and was a former member of the Williston Jaycees. Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, being outdoors and loved the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Trotter Boyer; son, Christopher “Chris” Boyer and his wife Brenda of Aiken; siblings Arthur Laverne (Lynn) Boyer of Williston, Mary Alice (David) Barnett of Williston and Fred Allen (Sharon) Boyer of Burnsville, N.C.; mother-in-law, Betty W. Trotter; grandchildren, Daniel Owen, Summer Schroder and her husband Myles; great-granddaughter, Tenley Schroder; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his four-legged son Sam.
