Deborah Duncan Bellinger - Columbia

Mrs. Deborah Duncan Bellinger entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Columbia after a long illness.

She was born in Barnwell to the late Rivers Duncan and Mary Alice Mitchell Duncan on May 20, 1931.

She attended the public schools in Barnwell. She retired from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health where she was a dental assistant.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Barnwell. Later she moved to Columbia and joined First Calvary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She later returned home to Barnwell and served as a Deaconess at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bellinger was a member of Emily Tent of the United Order of Tent.

On June 26, 1948, she married James H. Bellinger of Barnwell. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter.

Mrs. Bellinger was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, three brothers, Charles, David and Joseph; and two sisters, Maude and Cecile.

Mrs. Bellinger leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Gale Bellinger Waymer; a son-in-law, Don Waymer; one grandson, Bryan Waymer of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Equalla Duncan Mabrey of Barnwell; a brother, Mr. Benjamin I. Duncan Sr. of Barnwell; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marianne Duncan of Aiken; nieces, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Eaves (John) of Chicago, Illinois, Gretchen Adams of Albany, New York, and Benita Duncan of Sumter; a nephew, Benjamin I. Duncan II (Stephanie) of Columbia; and a host of grand nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A special thank you to Donna Taylor for your love and care for the past three and a half years; Shirley Sutton for always being on call and to Pathway Hospice Care Team, nurse Laura and CNA Tionne.

Funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Barnwell officiated by Dr. Jamey O. Graham, pastor of Saint John Baptist Church in Columbia. Committal followed at Hope Memorial Park in Barnwell.

Lebby’s Funeral Home in Barnwell assisted the family with arrangements.
