Funeral services for Joseph Herbert “Joe” Jackson, 89, of Williston, will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with burial at the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. The family has asked that memorials be given in Mr. Jackson’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
Mr. Jackson passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017.
Born in Danville, Virginia, he was a son of the late Rawley Lee Jackson Sr. and Laura Inez Eden Jackson. Mr. Jackson retired after thirty-five years of service as a supervisor in the Power Department at the Savannah River Site. He was a member and Deacon of the Williston First Baptist Church. He loved to travel, enjoyed camping and playing golf.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Doris Meeks Jackson of the home; daughters, Barbara Jackson Kight of Aiken, Debra Jackson Jamison of Williston; son, Marvin (Beverly) Jackson of Gaston; grandchildren, Tawney Kight (David) Miller, Leigh Kight (Jason) Hucks, Toby Jamison, Jill (Philip) Vaughan, Paige (Conway) McCrary; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, James Meeks of Williston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Rawley Lee Jackson Jr. and William Harvey Jackson.
