Funeral services for William Edward “Ed” Cagle, 88, of Williston will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with the Reverend Dan Fogle officiating. Burial will be at the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the funeral home. Ed passed away at his home on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

Born in Winston County, Alabama, he was a son of the late William Bill Cagle and Savannah Hopkins Cagle. Ed retired after forty-two years of service as a maintenance supervisor at E.I. DuPont and Westinghouse. He owned and operated Discount Home and Garden, was instrumental in organizing the PeeWee football program for the Town of Williston, recorded statistics for the Williston-Elko Blue Devils and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, served in numerous capacities and received a fifty year service plaque at Rosemary Baptist Church. Ed enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Maxine Shotts Cagle of the home; sons, Terry (Letha) Cagle of Lexington, David “Ronnie” Cagle of Williston, Dwayne (Joanne) Cagle of Williston; grandchildren, Nicole (Len) Clamp, Justin (Jessica) Cagle, David (Kathryn) Cagle, Ashley (Alex) Morris; great-grandchildren, Gage Cagle, Grayson Clamp, Ethan Clamp, Ali Cagle, Auron Cagle, Ryley Cagle, Anna Kate Morris; sisters, Faye Marks, Ann Cagle; brother, Elbert (Kat) Cagle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elouise Cagle; brothers, Elton and Joe Cagle.
