James Hollis Lockwood III - Elko

James Hollis Lockwood III died unexpectedly at his home on October 23, 2016 in Elko at the age of 63.

James is survived by his mother, Lenora Lockwood; his stepmother, Mary Lou Lockwood; wife, Daphnee Johnson Lockwood; children, James H. Lockwood III, Jonathan Lockwood and Jesse Schumpert; granddaughter, Taylor Lucas; brothers, Jodie and Jeff Lockwood; sisters, Jean (Duane) Bokman, Jamie Kimmen, JoLayne (Sherman) Wilson; brothers-in-law, John (Deborah) Johnson and Eddie Johnson; sister-in-law, Era Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Lockwood; mother-in-law, Ila Mae Johnson; father-in-law, Marvin Martin Johnson; sister, Judith Trutna; sister-in-law, Lisa Lockwood; brothers-in-law, Greg Kimmen and Darell Johnson.

James was born on July 29, 1953 in Astoria, Oregon to James E. Lockwood and Lenora Lockwood. He married Daphnee Johnson Lockwood on December 2, 1980. James was a devoted and loving family man who dedicated himself to his wife, three sons, and granddaughter. His strong and unflinching character bestowed upon his loved ones the importance of living a life filled with honesty, courage and integrity.

James was a distinguished professional in the cable construction industry. Over the years, he traveled the United States and was instrumental in building the modern cable television infrastructure throughout the country. He was an individual who loved his job and who was passionate about the work he did. He was an active and dedicated member of his community and often volunteered to coach and participate in local events. James enjoyed fishing, grilling, golfing, guitar playing, his dogs, and, most of all, spending time with his granddaughter.

A memorial gathering is scheduled for November 4, 2016 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at 270 Thompson Street, Elko. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of James H. Lockwood II.
