Thomas Barrett Hagood - Barnwell

Thomas Barrett Hagood, 99, of Barnwell, entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2017 at the Agape Hospice House in Columbia.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Anne Washington Hagood, and their five children: Barrett (Cindy) Hagood of Calhoun, Ga.; Brew (Libby) Hagood of Sullivan’s Island; Elizabeth (Billy) Craver of Sullivan’s Island; Betts (Marc) Funderburk of North Augusta; and Robert (Laura) Hagood of Wilmington, DE. Tommy was adored by his thirteen grandchildren: Allen (Kristi) Hagood; Tommy (Tammy) Hagood; Johnson Hagood; Bates Hagood; Miriam Hagood; Katherine Hagood; Jennie (Judd) Haithcock; Anne Funderburk; Kate Funderburk; Will Craver; Sam Craver; John Craver; and Jack Hagood; and his four great-grandchildren: Taela Rice; Benjamin Hagood; Avery Haithcock and Callie Haithcock.

Tommy, the youngest child of Miles Brewton Hagood and Jennie Lou Bates Hagood, was born on July 27, 1917 in Barnwell. Tommy was predeceased by his brothers, Miles Hagood and Bates Hagood, and his sister, Elizabeth Burrus. Tommy attended Barnwell Public Schools and graduated from the University of South Carolina.

Tommy served his country for 5 years by enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1940. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Tommy was trained to be a pilot for the U.S. Air Corps and became a flight instructor. During his last year of service, Tommy was assigned to fly the P-38 fighter aircraft on reconnaissance missions from the island of Attu in the Aleutian Islands.

Tommy returned to Barnwell following the war and formed a general partnership with his best friend, Ed Richardson. Tommy and Ed ran one of the largest farming operations in Barnwell County raising a variety of crops and livestock. They also built a motel and drive-in movie theater when the Savannah River Plant was being constructed in the 1950’s. Tommy was a member of the Ellenton Agricultural Club where he enjoyed attending the monthly meetings and barbeque dinners. Tommy and Anne enjoyed getting together with their friends in Barnwell for family picnics, the State Park Supper Club, bridge clubs and the Winton Assembly. Tommy was a life-long member of the Barnwell United Methodist Church where he and Anne raised their children.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service to celebrate the life of Tommy Hagood at the Barnwell United Methodist Church, 236 Main Street, on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the sanctuary. Burial will follow the funeral service at the cemetery adjacent to the Church of the Holy Apostles located at 9357 Patterson Street in Barnwell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barnwell United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 126, Barnwell, SC 29812.

Merrick L. Huff - Barnwell County

A Celebration of Life Service for Merrick Huff will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, with the Reverend Bob Scroggs officiating.

Merrick Lane Huff, born April 27, 1972, was found to have passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at his maternal grandmother’s (Joyce H. Moore) residence in Barnwell County. Merrick grew up in Barnwell, attended Barnwell High School and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed nature, had a love for animals, music and was known as an entertaining and light-hearted friend. He had a loyal love for his family and is survived by his sisters, Amy Huff, Heather Still and Laura Huff with whom he remained close. Merrick was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends he leaves behind.

In addition to his sisters Amy, Heather and Laura; Merrick is survived by his mother, Shirley (Danny) Still of Sevierville, TN; step-mom, Teresa Huff of Florida; Grandmama, Joyce Moore of Williston; nephew and nieces, Landin Still, Addyson and Allyson Sanders of Sevierville, TN and many aunts, uncles, cousins and fur babies.
He is preceded in death by his daddy, David Huff, formerly of Florida; Pa-pa Lee and Ma-ma Lucille Huff, formerly of Harleyville, Granddaddy Charlie Dale; and a number of fur babies.

Ivree Ashley Dixon - New York

Homegoing service for Mrs. Ivree Ashley Dixon was held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Snelling with Rev. Dr. John W. Young presiding.

Mrs. Ivree Dixon was born January 23, 1949 in Snelling, the daughter of James and Josephine Ashley.

She attended school in Barnwell County. She attended Saint Paul Baptist Church as a child. After she finished school she married Richard Dixon. To this union one son, Richard Jr., was born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Josephine Ashley, and one sister, Sadie Mae.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Sr. of New York; one son, Richard Jr. (Patronya) of New Jersey; three sisters, Ivy J. Savage of Daytona Beach, Fla., Martha Hassell of New York, and Annie R. Williams (Robert) of Houston, Texas; one brother, James B. Ashley (Birdeen) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one uncle, Johnny B. Rouse of Aiken; and two grandsons, Tyari and Tyrese.

Mackey Joyner - Allendale

Funeral services for Mr. Mackey Joyner, 88, of 455 Black Road, Allendale, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Magdalene Christian Church with Reverend Cynthia Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mackey Joyner was born in Bull Pond, Old Barnwell County on February 15, 1928 to the late John Joyner and the late Sylvia Baxter Joyner.

He was educated in the public schools of Allendale County. At an early age he joined Magdalene Christian Church in Allendale and was later baptized. He was employed with Donohoe Construction Company as a driver for many years. He was a well-dressed man and had a love for looking good and wearing his jewelry. He enjoyed lawn care and gardening. His favorite “pastime” was going out to eat.

Mr. Joyner passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Govan Joyner; both parents, three brothers and three sisters.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: two sons, Trevor Dixon of Washington, D.C. and Giovante Jefferson of Richmond, VA; one granddaughter, Olivia Dixon of Washington, D.C.; two adopted children: Takoma Parker and Barbara Driggins, both of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Lula Mae Black of Allendale; a devoted nephew, Norman Garvin Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; a devoted niece, Lavonia Brodus of Allendale; a devoted grandnephew, Alexander Boyd of Philadelphia, PA; special friends: Alma (Robert) Smith and Leah Smith, both of Woodbridge, VA, Sandra Hill of Washington, D.C. and AJ Ward of Allendale; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and caring friends.

Willie 'Doc' Elmore - Allendale

Funeral services for Willie “Doc” Elmore, 76, of 141 Red Top Lane, Allendale, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Allendale Community Church with Reverend Audrey Lofton officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Willie “Doc” Elmore was born on September 7, 1940 to the late Governor Washington and late Estelle Elmore. He was educated in the public schools of Allendale County. On April 5, 1964, he married the love of his life, the late Thomasena H. Elmore. He was a maintenance supervisor with Collum’s Lumber of Allendale until his retirement. He was a hardworking man with great integrity. He loved his wife and family and often spoiled his children and grandchildren. Willie was very skillful with his hands.

On February 5, 2017, Doc was called home by the almighty God at his residence in Allendale.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Francena Hill; one sister, Ida Mae Glover and one sister-in-law, Sophie Youmans.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: two sons: Pastor Willie E. Elmore and George H. (Stacey) Elmore; three daughters: Elizabeth (Lennis) Flowers, Mary (Nathaniel) Fields and Thelma Morrell, all of Allendale; nine grandchildren, two reared in the home: Latoya Priester and Lennel Elmore; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Thelma (Eugene) Washington Chess and Blossie Cohen of Union, NJ; one brother, Benny Joe (Rhoda) Washington of Barnwell; two sisters-in-law: Martha (David) Flowers of Cocoa, FL and Lula (Ulysses) Hush of Savannah, Ga. ; one brother in-law, Mitchell Glover of Allendale, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.

Mildred Sanders Williams - Blackville

On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, Mildred Sanders Williams, 75, of Blackville, went home to be with Jesus. Ms. Williams was born to the late Ruth Elizabeth Sanders and James Sanders on October 4, 1941, in Barnwell County.

Mildred joined Macedonia Baptist Church at a very young age and served faithfully until her passing. During earlier years, she served as Secretary to the Sunday School and Pianist for both the Sunday School and the Church. Subsequent to her retirement, she served as a member of the Trustee Board, Scholarship Committee and Financial Secretary of the Church.

Mildred received her education in the Blackville School District. While in school, she actively participated in the School Choir, the Yearbook Staff and was a basketball player with the Macedonia High School Hawks. She later graduated from Voorhees College.

Mildred was employed by the Milliken Corporation and retired after 30 years of dedicated service and was also employed by Blackville Public Schools and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. She was also employed by the Disability Board.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Selwyn Byron Goodwin Sr.

She is survived by a daughter, Andrea (Herbert) Davis, Barnwell; sons, Darryl Sanders Sr., Carceret, NJ, Van (Pamela) Williams, North Augusta, Jason (Natasha) Williams, Barnwell; a special niece, Dawn Wilson Martin, Irmo; a sister, Dr. Marie Martin, Irmo; eleven grandchildren, Quintin Sanders, Jeffrey McKethan, Marcus McKethan, Darryl Sanders Jr., April Sanders, Selwyn Goodwin Jr., Taylor Goodwin, Byron Williams, Brianna Williams, Camron Williams, and Carson Williams; five great-grandchildren, Arielle Sanders, Quintana Sanders, Ryleigh McKethan, Amora McKethan and Selwyn Goodwin III; and other relatives and many friends.

Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville. Mrs. Williams will be placed in the sanctuary of the church one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery in Barnwell.

Steve McNeil - Williston

Funeral services for Robert Steven McNeil, 65, of Williston, will be held on Sunday, February 12 at 3 p.m. at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Mr. McNeil passed away on February 10, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. McNeil was born in Charlotte, NC. He lived in Cameron for many years and was a pilot and co-owner of the McNeil Crop-dusting business. He moved to Williston in 1992. He was a self-employed freight hauler and traveled all across the United States for many years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with the local senior golfing group. He enjoyed fishing with his brother-in-law Mike Ridgeway. He also enjoyed hunting and all other sports. You could catch him most mornings at the local Hardee’s having breakfast with his wife and his Hardee’s breakfast group. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He attended Grace Covenant Church of God in New Ellenton.

Mr. McNeil is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Debra Williams McNeil of Williston; daughters, Karen McNeil (Adam Calvert) of Williston, and Keri (Doc) Bernstel of Columbia; son Travis (Melody) McNeil of Aiken; grandchildren, Neil Lindsey, Abbygail Lindsey, Steven Lindsey; brothers, Kenneth McNeil of Cameron, Don McNeil of Cameron; sister, Becky Breland of Swansea, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert McNeil of St. Matthews and June McNeil of Cameron.

Ralph W. Moody - Barnwell

Ralph W. Moody of the Big Fork Community passed away on February 13, 2017 in the Allendale County Hospital at the age of 97.

He was born in Barnwell County, a son of the late William Henry and Daisy Barker Moody. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from the Barnwell County Vocational School after 20 years of service.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 11 a.m. at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Mole Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Addie Evelyn Bonds Moody; sister-in-law, Frances Moody; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Moody was predeceased by a sister, Oneda Moody and brothers, Robert Henry Moody, Melvin Moody and Lloyd Moody.

Ronald Still - Barnwell

Ronald Still, 78, of Barnwell, went to be with his Lord on February 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born on December 10, 1938 in Blackville and was a son of the late Tom Still and Eunice Sanders. He was a retired electrician at Milliken with 47 years’ service. He was a member of Ashleigh Baptist Church. Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and loved to drive his tractor.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Scroggs and Rev. Farrell Ray officiating and granddaughter, Hope Estrada speaker. Burial will follow in the Ashleigh Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Still; daughters, Rhonda (Timothy) Thomas and Karen (Jim) Arnold; granddaughter, Hope Estrada; grandsons, McQuaid Thomas and Joseph Arnold; great-grands, Jordan Eubanks, Gerry Estrada, Rylynn Thomas; half-brother, Ralph Sanders and half-sisters, Shirley (Glen Dale) Causey and Brenda (Ken) Hallman. He was predeceased by sons, Richard and Allen Still; brothers, Freddie and Hammond Still, and sisters, Kathryn Ledford, Pauline Wilburn and Geneva Wheeler.

Harold Douglas Bennett - Estill

Harold Douglas Bennett, 77, of Estill, the husband of Anne Gohagan, died Friday, February 17, 2017.

Mr. Bennett was a native of Allendale and a son of the late Frank Harold and Daisy Roberds Bennett. Douglas was retired from the Savannah River Site and later worked for many years at Tison Ford Motor Co. He was a member of Lawtonville Baptist Church.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Lawtonville Cemetery with Rev. Joe Hester officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Anne G. Bennett; one daughter, Ginger B. Kramer (Jerry); one grandchild, Jenna Kramer; one brother, Sammy R. Bennett (Brenda).He was predeceased by one sister, Elizabeth B. Solomons.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Hilton Hoover Jr. - Barnwell

Mr. Hilton Hayes Hoover Jr. of Barnwell passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at his residence. He was 71.

Mr. Hoover was born January 7, 1946 in Fort Worth, TX, a son of the late Rev. Hilton H. Hoover Sr. and Evelyn Turner Hoover. He retired from the Savannah River Plant where he worked for the E. I. Dupont Construction Co. as a boiler maker and also in the company's operations division. He owned several businesses in Barnwell including the Creative Solutions Sign Co. and the Computer Service Bureau. Hilton held computer instructional classes around the state when they were first developed, and he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his brother, Jonathan D. Hoover and his wife Linda Murray Hoover of Walterboro; by his stepson, Greg Rushing; and by his stepdaughter, April R. Cone. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Harley. He was preceded in death by his son, Hilton "Hillie" Hoover III.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb.19, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro. The family received friends immediately following the service. Burial services will be held privately, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.

Funeral services for Ben Hammond Lott Sr., 80, of Blackville, will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Blackville First Baptist Church with the Reverends Ken Frederick and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating; burial will in the Blackville Cemetery. Mr. Lott passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017.

Born in Blackville, he was a son of the late Ben Tillman Lott and Inez Martin Lott. He was a member of Blackville First Baptist Church, retired after working at Milliken for 37 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sarah Toole Lott; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” (Tim) Riddle of Aiken; sons, Ben Hammond Lott Jr. of Aiken, Mark Toole (Julie) Lott of North Augusta; sister, Mildred L. Tuttle of Hollywood, FL; brother, Monroe (Marcia) Lott of Blackville; sisters–in-law, Vivian M. Lott of Blackville, Anne B. Lott of Clemson; grandchildren, Alex and Victoria Riddle, Aaron, Rachel, Jacob, Grayson and Wesley Lott; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Claude and Harold Lott; and brother-in-law, J. B. Tuttle.

Isaac Robinson - Barnwell

Mr. Isaac Robinson, age 83, was born on March 29, 1933, in Elko, to the late Samuel Robinson Sr. and the late Sara Evans Robinson.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance he joined the St. Peter Baptist Church in Elko. He received his education in the Elko public school system and worked at Milliken in Barnwell as a Forklift Operator for 35 years.

Isaac will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was united in holy matrimony to Peggie L. Robinson for over 59 years, and in this union, four children were born.

Besides his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by one son, Isaac Pernard Robinson; four brothers, Arnold Robinson, O’Neal Robinson, Sam Robinson, and Willie Robinson; and three sisters, Ida Mae Baxley, Jewel Felder, and Mary Robinson.

Our Heavenly Father called him from labor to reward on February 13, 2017, at the Pruitt Health Nursing Home in North Augusta.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory, a loving and devoted wife, Peggie Robinson of Barnwell; two daughters, Peggie Neal and Sharon (Jeffrey) Plunkett of Barnwell; one son, Donald L. (Jacqueline) Robinson of Barnwell; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren;one great-great-grandchild;one sister, Barbara Jean Bing of Williston; One brother, Harry Robinson of Williston; daughter-in-law, Sandra Robinson of Aiken, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

The funeral service was 3 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2017, at the St. Peter Baptist Church in Elko with words of comfort by Pastor Anthony Gadson. The burial followed in the church cemetery.

Carrie Lee Bush - Barnwell

Mrs. Carrie Lee Bush, age 79, of Barnwell, was born on May 28, 1937, to the late James Gene Cave and the late Julia Mae Wallace.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance she joined the St. John Baptist Church in Boiling Springs.  

Carrie received her education at Diamond Dale School in Boiling Springs. She later moved to New York where she worked and retired from North Central Bronx Hospital in Bronx, NY after 41 years.

Carrie was a loving and kind person and will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends.

She was married to the late Franklin Bush for 40 years before the Lord called him home.

Besides her husband, parents, and grandparents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Julia Ann Patterson; one niece, Zeretta Cave; two nephews, Mark Cave and Tyron Cave; and one grandnephew, Quinton Cave.

Our Heavenly Father saw fit to call her from labor to reward on February 13, 2017, at her home in Barnwell.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, four sons: Sammie L. Bush, and Rod Bush of Barnwell, Harry L. Bush of Aiken, and Malcolm Bush of Jacksonville, FL;  eight grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren;one brother, Thurnell Cave of Augusta, Ga.;  five sisters, Annie (Herman) Priester, and Gladys Cave of Barnwell, Dora Priester of Aiken, Barbara (Raymond) Stokes of Jacksonville, FL, and Virginia (Roland) Camps of Columbia; two aunts, Earline Wallace, and Mary Lee White of Aiken, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sympathizing friends.

The funeral service was 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the St. John Baptist Church in Boiling Springs with words of comfort by Pastor Freddie Bush. The burial followed in the church cemetery.

Jerry Bolen - Williston

Funeral services for Jerry Myer Bolen, 69, of Williston, were held 3 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dan Fogle officiating. Burial was at the Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Mr. Jerry passed away Friday, February 24, 2017.

Born in Barnwell County, he was a son of the late John Calhoun and Neva Hair Bolen and was married to Nancy B. Bolen. Mr. Jerry was a carpenter and a truck driver and attended Long Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy B. Bolen of the home; daughters, Courtney Williams and her husband Phil Padgett, Jessica and her husband Fred Bordelon and Courtney Barwick; a son, Chuck Atkinson; sisters, Ann Dyson, Judy Pitts and Cathy Owens; brothers, Ricky Bodiford and Randy Bodiford; grandchildren, Wyatt Williams, Weston Davis, Wynter Padgett and Kaleigh and Trenton Kneece.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Walker Colton Davis.

Marlene Emma Mintz, 23, passed away February 24, 2017 in Barnwell.

Born in Charleston on September 15, 1993, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth A. McGrew.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Scroggs officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by two sons, Aaron “AJ” Joseph Mintz and T.J. Mintz; a brother, Walter Mintz III; an aunt, Melvenia Mosier; a cousin, James Baker; and a grandfather, Charles Allen. She was predeceased by her mother and a brother William Allen.

Tarsem Singh Purewal - Allendale

Tarsem Singh Purewal of Allendale, son of the late Lashkar Singh Purewal and Surjit Kaur Purewal, passed away at his home Saturday, February 25, 2017 after an extended illness.

Tarsem was born March 16, 1944 in Shankar, Punjab, India and immigrated to America in 1969 to further his education at the University of Washington. After graduating with a Masters in Electrical Engineering, Tarsem moved to the South. This is where he began his career with BellSouth and met his wife in 1972. After 25 years of service Tarsem retired in 1996, but only temporarily. After a few months of retirement he joined Westinghouse at Savannah River Plant for a few years. Soon after he joined the staff at USC-Salkehatchie as an instructor of Computer Science where he touched many lives until retirement.

Tarsem was a devoted husband to Melda Myrick for almost 45 years. He was also a loving father of one son, Semmy Purewal (Emily) of San Jose, California, one daughter, Mandi Purewal Fisk (Jesse), and the greatest Papa to Rayna Purewal-Fisk and Jasper Purewal-Fisk, all from Goose Creek. Tarsem is also survived by three brothers, Charanjit Purewal (Shindo) from Yuba City, California, Ajit Purewal (Manjinder), from Olympia, Washington, Karnail Purewal (Kulwinder) Charleston; one sister, Jaswinder Rai from Bellingham, Washington; sisters-in-law, Bhajan Kaur Purewal from Sacramento, California, Mary Anne Smith (Douglas) of Hampton; brother-in-law, Bobby Myrick from Allendale, and many nieces and nephew. Tarsem was predeceased by one brother, Prem Purewal from Yuba City, California and one sister, Darshan Sandhu from Yuba City, California.

A Celebration of Tarsem’s Life will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Mt. Arnon Baptist Church at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Funeral services for Gloria Ann Still Sanders, 75, of Barnwell, will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverends Henry Chavis, Timmy Gunnells and Debbie Gunnells officiating. Gloria passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017.

Born in Barnwell County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lide Still and Mada Hutto Still. She previously worked at Milliken, Sunbeam and Reid’s Grocery Store. She was a member of Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as the Adult Sunday School secretary, was on the food committee and loved to attend the Tuesday morning Bible Study Group.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Coy Sanders; daughter, Lisa Ann Sanders of Barnwell; grandchildren, Christy (Darryl) Zorn, Kelsey, Madison and Macy Gilbert, Brandon James Sanders, Jeremy (Crystal) Sanders and Stacy Sanders; great-grandchildren, Raiden and Rylee Zorn, Autumn and Logan Sanders; daughter-in-law, Terri Sanders. She was preceded in death by her sons, Coy Wayne Sanders, Christopher James “Chris” Sanders; sister, Shirley Black; brothers, Jack O. Still and Larry J. Still.

Funeral services for Betty Bell Hutson, 89, of Williston, will be held 1 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, with the Reverend Floyd Dukes officiating. Mrs. Betty passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

Born in Dorchester County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Bell Sr. and Bertha Elizabeth Smith Bell and was the widow of Wyles M. (Coot) Hutson Sr. She was a homemaker and worked in sales.

Survivors include her sons, Wyles M. “Rusty” (Karen) Hutson Jr. of Williston, David Wayne (Robin) Hutson of West Columbia, Edward Bryan (Jan) Hutson of Williston; daughters, Shirley Mabry of Columbia, Patricia Joyce (Jim) Dew of Irmo, Brenda Kay (Mitch) White of Fernandina Beach, FL; sister, Bernice Johnson of Summerville; grandchildren Brandon Loy, April Dew, Jeff Dew, Diane (Brent) Tedder, David (Kristy) Hutson Jr., Alaetra Kruer, Krysa Kruer, Travis Hutson, Jeffery (Charlotte) Wilson, Adam Bridges; great-grandchildren, Cannon Hutson, Dylan Kruer, Jaeci Wilson, Eddie Roy, Graham Pickrell, Eleanor Pickrell, Noah Wilson and Emily Wilson. Funeral services for Dennis Allen Gunnells, 58, of Aiken, will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Brinkley officiating. Dennis passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his home.

Born in Barnwell County, he was a son of Sybil Lain Owens and the late Laurie Gunnells. He retired from Harrington Industries in Aiken, where he painted airplanes, enjoyed selling goods at the Springfield flea market and liked helping at Rich’s Auction in Aiken. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother of Aiken; wife, Deloris Miller Gunnells of the home; daughter, Jennifer Margaret Brunson of Aiken; sons, Dennis Charles Gunnells and fiancé Amanda Joyce Watson of Aiken and Michael Paul (Emily) Gunnells of Aiken; four grandchildren, Elijah Michael Brunson III, Evan Micah Brunson, Kelsey Lynn Gunnells, Jacob Hunter Stevenson; niece and nephew, Shelley Zawacki, James Zawacki; uncles, Bob Lain, David Lain, Russell Lain and aunt, Nell Mashburn.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sherri Zawacki and step-father, Ronald Owens.
